No boot, No display, no signal and white power light flashes once

Hi..

hope you can help out as you have been refered and have good reviews.

Have a Powermac A1047, EMC no. 1969

G5 2.0 gh dual processor machine that doesnt boot, display is black, no signal and white power light flashes once every 5 seconds. Also there is a red light on the main board that you can see through the front grill.

Checked battery and has 3.6 volts, reseated vcard and ram, have 2, 256meg modules in slot 2 on each bank.

Do you need a hard drive to be connected to get this to boot or grey screen?

Could be loose, missing, wrong RAM. So if you changed the RAM put back the original. If you haven't changed the RAM inspect it for damage and check that it is "clicked" in.

The # and position of the RED LED is important to diagnosing what it means.

LED 1—CPU A:

LED 2—Overtemp:

LED 3—Power On: red—the main power is on

LED 4—Trickle: yellow—Power Mac G5 is plugged into the wall correctly

LED 5—Open Firmware good: green—no problem

LED 6—CPU B:

LED 7—Checkstop:

IF the Red LED you see is not #3 then you have CPU/Logic Board problems and as a DIY solution replacement is the preferred method of choice (Adding/removing/repairing Logic Board components are not really DIY projects-they require special tools, materials and experience).

I've just had the same thing happen to my G5 1.8 with 2GB ram. Installed new battery which wasn't the problem then removed some ram(left 512mb in top slot of top two and 512mb ram in bottom of bottom two slots. Machine booted,now backing up while i have the chance as the fans are pretty noisy, the future is uncertain but the plus side is i just got a 2nd chance to save some irreplaceable stuff.
