The older large iPad chargers have known problem I had similar problem With three other charges I ignore the charges unused the simple charger underwear the problem went away I suspect the knockdown transformer inside these were overeating and failing but I don’t know yet. I’m trying to find the schematics of one of these charges. The other problem to be aware of is if you buy these charges on eBay and they haven’t been tested the person is likely to sell you a faulty transformer believing it to be okay so beware of this because you still got the same problem

tonnie, it is entirely possible that it does not charge because of a faulty battery. I suggest you start with that. Pick your iPad from the guide list and pick the one for your battery replacement. After that, reevaluate. At least that way you have a know good starting point for any further trouble shooting, should it be necessary. the error can also originate in the dock connector, the charging circuit, bad charging coil, bad charging diode or bad power management IC, but unless you have a known good point, it will be more of a guess than anything else. Hope this helps, good luck.

Ipad 1 does not charge with its charger. But any apple mac book can charge the Pad 1 through the USB connection. Somehow Apple had dropped support for this charger and want us to use a laptop or imac to charge the ipad 1. The logic of this operation is to encourage you to use iTune and sync.

I think faulty battery, It will charge if plugged into the PC/MAC however it takes a full day or or two to fully charge even though it still says "not charging". Charging sign comes on or off, so I do not rely on that. Mostly battery issue to me. Your average rechargeable batteries are only going to last 3-5 years anyhow.

I also had this problem and i fixed the issue all i did was take a clean tooth brush and some 70% rubbing alcohol and cleaned the charging port on the iPad as well as the USB Cable both ends of the usb cable because these three connecting points tend to get dirty over time so now it is charging hope this helps anyone with this problem.
