Why is the 'Hold' button stuck on?

Weather the hold switch is on or off, it says on my iPod screen that its on and therefore wont respond to anything i do to control it. i'm EXTREMELY frustrated with this problem and any information on how to fix it would be much appreciated.

Hi Karla

the hold button can be replaced:

this site also sell parts:

But it's not an easy job to open the iPod, and there might be something else to do. Try searching the answers from the answers index page.
