Why does my iPod screen seem to be dim after replacement?

I recently replaced the screen on my ipod touch 4g. Before I did this the screen would not work at all but after replacing it now seems the screen is very dim and only able to read it by angling it in different ways. When trying to sign into my apple id it gives me a connection error...

Please help!!!
