it sounds like the headphones are not plugged in all the way but they are. You can hear the music but not the words

Since the audio
is digital it should be all or nothing... are you listening to a karaoke or instrumental track?

clean the jack. you can also try to use a very fine screwdriver or similar tool to carefully bend the outer connection a bit towards the plug...
