How do I remove the keypad for its replacement?

The 8* key is broken but i can still work the small white rubber button underneath. As i cannot find a new replacement single key it looks as if the whole keyboard will have to be replaced. Hence my question, How do i remove the keyboard? Thanks.

Looks like your keyboard is held in by 5 plastic tabs( above the following keys: ESC, F5, F9, Prt Sc, and End). If you depress them with a spudger tool you should be able to lift up the keyboard and disconnect the ribbon cable underneath. Looks like this guide is fairly accurate Asus K53E-MT1 Motherboard Replacement (Step 7). I would just advise against using a flat head screwdriver, you'll want to use something plastic to prevent damage to the laptop.

I used two very small flatheads, one to depress the clips and another to lift the board out. The slots are wide enough if you use the tiny-size screwdrivers. Worked well with no damage, just be gentle! I'll add that a replacement is about $20 online at the time of this posting.

This video helped me easily swap out my keyboard on my Asus K53Z - it should be similar, if not exactly the same for your model.
