Sleep on/off Button no longer works

I was using my iPod while exercising - I didn't have a holder, so I put it in my bra where I sweat on it.

The device was in a silicon sleeve which I guess held the sweat on the case. The button worked sporadically for a month, but now the on/off button will not work.

I have to wait for the device to "sleep" and I cannot shut it off.

I noticed you never got an answer to this. Are you still having this problem?

Machead, thank you for the suggestion but the real issue is that I beleive the sweat got into the on/off switch and screwed it up. I don't know how to clean the contacts off (prolly will have to find a tech to take it apart, it's out of warranty).

I tried pressing the menu and on/off button, but since the on/off is not working, nothing happens. :(

Try this

  • Press the Menu button + the middle button altogether until the apple logo appears.
  • If this doesn't work do backup then a restore to factory settings in iTunes settings
