Can the stand be removed to add arm mount?

I've ordered my new iMac and will have it in a few weeks, and I'm interested in mounting it to an arm like the ergotech Freedom Arm. Is the stand on the 27" 2012 iMac removable for a mount like this to be attached?

The stand can be removed, however, since there are no wall mounts that fit the attachment point or adaptor there's no point . Not compatible with iMac (late 2012). Wall mount or articulating arm not included.
