The first thing you want to make sure off, is that you have a proper cable. I've had an aftermarket cable that gave me the same error. If your cable is a proper one, replace the dock connector.

by

Priscilla Martinez, that usually has to do with a signal from the dock connector. If you have a cable or a device that is not properly identify through your dock connector, it will give you that particular error message. Of course if you have a good cable, it is the dock connector that is at fault. The other way to test it, is by using a docking station that worked before, and see if it still works.

by

try cleaning inside the dock port..you often get this message if there is debris on the pins.

by

yep my had a big ol' piece on the pins - thanks - alcohol to the rescue

Clean inside the dock port. If it still doesn't work, you have to buy a new one.

I am also having that error message, it says," charging is not supported with this accessory." I unplug my phone and plug it back in and the error message goes away and then a few minutes or seconds later it comes back. It charges my phone extremly slow too. I'm not sure what to do. Is there something wrong with my phone?

'I think, I have found the initial way to charge your iphone.

1. Put your iPhone, iPod or iPad on charge.

2. Then Turn off your device.

3. Keep it off for hour and then turn it on, it will be charged 100%

Good Luck

You may also have a damaged cable. If you put stress on the cable the ends, where the plugs meet the cable, start to wear and bend. when this happens the wires inside your cable may break or short out. Try using a cable that works on another device, if that works replacing your cable is the solution.

Not all aftermarket products are created equally....or properly. Some do not put out the correct "amps" required by your device and this might cause the message you are getting? I've noticed that you sometimes get what you pay for an item when it comes to aftermarket third party generic products...

Many devices charge android phones. Yet much fewer charge apple. Fault is Apple trying to make people buy only their adapters. Recent os updates have made this only worse. Apple is behaving like a cult.

I had a similar problem and I was surprised because I have everything original from Apple which I have been using from past 3 years.

All I did to have my old cable and charger work is blow wind though the sockets (blow wind at the charging side of the phone and blow wind at the charging side of the connector) - IT WORKED - My phone is charging as before :)

Hello everyone, my iPhone has been charging as normal for quite a long time now, I have decided to buy a portable charger for on the go travels and it is not from the apple company...I set it up as usual and it gave the message that the product can not be supported, is this because it is not an apple product?? Please let me know as soon as possible.
