I agree, replacing the loudspeaker is cheap and SUPREMELY easy. Here's an instructional on how to do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjoi0u3y.... Also there could be an issue with your docking connection. Try cleaning that.

Hi,

I had once this problem.

I disassembled the speaker enclosure and put some electronical cleaner (spray) in the speaker...

After letting it dry, I reassembled the phone and all worked fine again....

Hope this will help you

My recommendation is to replace the loudspeaker. It's very cheap, and fairly easy. Ifixit has a great guide for that, if you aren't afraid to open her up. The part is definitely under $10.

Had this problem for almost two months. Could hear phone ring and use speaker phone , but could only hear music and apps via headphones.

Tried all those cleaning solutions, wanted to downgrade OS.

Then it got fixed and I think it was this, as crazy as it may sound.

I was nervous about having FindiPhone hooked up - my wife left hers in a restaurant and it was not hooked-up. So I checked my "Find iPhone" set up, paged the iPhone via "Find iPhone"- and ..... sound came out of the f*#$&ing speaker!

It's now all fixed - sound works in the speaker for all apps.

This is the only thing I can think of that I did that was different from all the other recurring loading, connecting etc. operations. Would love to hear if this works for others.

I had this problem and first changed the headphone jack out and still had the problem.....with more searching I saw a post about the docking port causing this issue. I just changed the docking port and all works well now.
