1,2 & 3 on touch not working after digitizer replacement with twist

Ok so here is the problem, I have replaced the digitizer on an iPhone 3GS, checked and double checked all connectors but when I turn it on at the PIN screen the numbers 1, 2 and 3 will not work BUT (now here's the twist) if I slide up to open the camera and press on the same spots where those buttons resided then it picks up my touch shown by the manual focus point box.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

PS this is not my first replacement

Thanks

Hey Dale,

Try to reset your phone. Hold the sleep/wake button at the top right and the home button at the same time. Keep holding until the screen goes black.Once the Apple logo appears let go of the buttons, your phone should now reboot. Always make sure that you back up your phone promptly so as to minimize any loss of important data. After you back it up you could also try a restore. If that does not accomplish anything, it may be time to disassemble your phone, clean all the connectors with a Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol, and then try reconnecting the digitizer LCD assembly, if that does not work then consider in buying a new digitizer. Hope this resolves the problem, good luck.

Chuck

Hi Chuck

Thanks for your feedback, unfortunately I have tried to reset the device to no success, I would put the blame solely on the digitizer if it wasn't for the twist I mentioned in the fact that touch is registered in this strip of the grid, just not on the PIN screen it seems, unfortunately it was not my phone so I can not gain access past the PIN screen even if it didn't involve 1, 2 or 3 I could only test the touch function through the camera screen which does not require unlocking to access.

Thanks

Try by passing the iPhone 3GS pin code for further testing by hitting emergency call - hit ####,call then quickly hit the sleep/wake button on the top right corner. Don't know if that exploit still exist, and would work with the iPhone firmware that is on the iphone your fixing, but it worked for me when I had a 3GS to fix and test before.

Hope that helps,

Chuck
