How to repair a broken contact below the home button?

While replacing the dead battery in apple 3gs iphone, unfortunately due to my negligence one leg out of the two contact legs below the home button broke down. Due to which home button is not functioning. Is there any way to repair this other than replacing the entire front panel ? Any help from any quarter would be much appreciated.

Thanks and Regards.
