laptop won't switch on after installing airport card

I bought an airport card last week for my g3 ibook - an 802.11b.

Inserted card - didn't work.

laptop now refuses to switch on and boot up.

have tried all sorts of things -taking battery out, using different keys. A previous post I found suggested that the wire that attaches to the card could have shorted out the computer. I still can't find a solution to this, despite scouring the internet.

So, to summarise -

I can't boot it up at all.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Keyboard appears to have some power in that the caps lock key will switch on - ie register as green, even though the actual computer won't switch on or boot up.

Thank you.

Go over your reassembly carefully. Especially the power button connection and ribbon cable to logic board connections. Connect to an external monitor to ensure that it's not a display issue. It's not clear if you are trying to boot with the faulty card in or out of the machine.
