I am new to the repair world. I have a customer who has an iPod Touch 3rd Gen. His homebutton has to be pressed really hard for it to work. Is this a flex cable issue? Any diagnoses and repair tips are appreciated.

You have to take it apart and see what it could be.
It could be that it has been in slight contact with water so when you press the button, the contacts are dirty and make a poor connection. In this case, you can just take it out and clean it and it'll work.
Or
it could be that the metal (connected to the logic board) - Golden pin is slightly pressed in so you will just need to pull it up (be careful as it's soldered to the board. Fixing this will require soldering skills)
