Why is my Mac Mini blowing fuses? Foom!

A friend recently gave me a mac mini A1176 which wouldn't power up. Changed the 3A fuse in the UK plug - no joy. Bought a new power brick. No joy. Tried the power brick/cable from my own A1176: no joy. Worse, when I then reconnected my own machine, I discovered (after some serious panicking) that the fuse had blown as well.

So, a mac mini that apparently blows 3A fuses, regardless of cable or power brick. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

The best place to begin: Ask your friend what happened to it. . . if he tinkered with it it might be a botched reassembly, or a damaged/wrong component. If your friend is no help carefully looking over the machine (use a magnifying glass) following the guide you might discover the problem.
