cannot post after new HD
Changed hard drive put DVD disk in and held C key but no results. how long do i have to hold C key

You should not have to hold any key down. .. the computer will search for a valid OS folder and automagically boot to your install disk - provided you didn't damage or leave the optical drive disconnected.
If it doesn't automagically find the install disk you could try holding down the option (alt) key... that will bring up a screen from which you can use mouse or tab to select the install disk. You'll want Menu->Tools->Disk Tools:Partition before you can install anything.

Please tell us the last three figures of your serial number (located on the bottom of your stand). There is no emc3111. Also to make and model number of the drive you are trying to install and why you are changing drives. Thanks
