Can my device's fan still run and HDD run, if...?

If my logic board was completely dead, (ie. liquid spill), would the fan and the HDD still run (spin)? Because they both still run, but nothing else. No sound, display, key function, connectivity via firewire or usb.

-thanks

Power is still to the unit, but all the sensors and circuits are fried. So yes it can all still run since the electrons still have a path to follow. The fan and the HDD may or may not have a fail operational mode, where they try and try hard to work, but they can not, because there is no brain.

Hope that answers your question.

Call you insurance agent and see what your deductible is. Get an estimate including labor from your local repairman, then look at the costs of a used logic board here: http://www.ifixit.com/Mac-Parts/MacBook-...

Here's how to install it: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2009 Logic Board Replacement
