Why is my touch screen not working properly?

I've been attempting to replace the top glass screen on my galaxy s3. it shattered from a drop, so i ordered a new glass and took out all the broken glass. After about an hour I removed all the glass shards and put the new screen on, turned the phone on and the screen did not work visually but i could feel the vibrate when you touch it. I am hoping its something small and i dont have to replace it!
