sata hard drive compatibility with iMac G5

I am trying to replace the drive in my Imac G5 intel based. I already opened it and I tried installing a WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA III but no luck. Tried partitioning it with Utility Disk, nothing.

This time I wanted to try something different and wondering if you think this drive will be compatible and help me to bring my imac G5 back to life...

if you think this may not work, can you please send me a link to a drive that will be compatible?

You drive is probably to fast. You will most likely have to jumper it down to your machines BUS speed. Please give us the last three figures of your serial number (located on the bottom of the stand) so we can tell you exactly which machine you have and its BUS speed. This drive is a 6 Gb/s and you may need to go to 3 Gb/s or even 1.5 Gb/s. The drive indicates you can jumper pins 5 and 6 to limit it to 3Gb.
