My ps3 freezes a few mins after I start playing?

My ps3 freezes up about 3 to 5 mins after i start playing. I get no yellow light or any errors all it does is stay frozen which forces me to do a hard boot. I have opened it to clean it out but it still does the same thing. Sometimes after the hard boot it will seem fine. Any idea what could be the problem and how i can fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: I purchased and did the YLOD repair when I was done I turned on my ps3 and ran black ops 2 it started an update half way through the update it shutdown and a red flasking light was blinking. I turned it off and back on it started a HD check and half way through that it shutdown and same thing happened. I tired it a 3rd time i ran black ops 2 it went through the update and I played a team death match and it looked like it was fine. I trying to get some feedback from others that have done the repair if this is common after the repair is done any feedback would be appreciated thank you

Alex, here is my answer to a similar question. First you do need to remember that this will only work if your YLOD is caused by solder fractures and if they are not to extreme. Reflowing any board with a heatgun is not an exact science and as such does have a certain amount of failure. The proper fix for this would most likely be a professional reball. Anyhow, the biggest reason for failure to reflow is not enough consistent heat. There is a fine line between reflowing and absolutely melting the solder, so one needs to be aggressive without going over board. If nothing else, get a couple of temperature probes and see what heat you generate. You also need to make sure that you apply the thermal paste properly etc. Follow the guide from here and keep on trying. If at first you don't succeed....:). Hope this helps, good luck.
