Display data cable not going back in?

At Step 20 of Installing MacBook Air 13" Mid 2011 Display Assembly the guide asks you to remove the Display data cable, now I am re-assembling the Macbook again but no matter what I try, I can't figure out how to put that cable back in.

I have tried to hold the little metal lock in different angles etc. but nothing seems to work.

Is there a specific way to put the cable back in?

Thanks.

Use a magnifier to check both the connector and the socket for any junk or damage. If you see anything then you may have damaged something.

If it looks good place the cable end flat on the logic board just in front of the socket place the pull latch loop straight up (the wire loop pivots are up) so its out of the way, push the cable in squarely into the socket (can only go in one way) Very little force is needed here! it does not have very far to go to be seated, fold down the pull to latch down the onto the socket so the detents on the side catch the wire arm (try one side then the other if you can't get both to go at the same time) Again very little force is needed here

Try zooming up the figures in the iFixIt guides so you can see what it looks like in the closed position before popping the pull latch
