iPod Classic won't turn on after repair, but charges. What's wrong?

I repaired my Ipod Classic for the first time, but I did every step carefully and took my time taking it apart. I got a new click wheel and a new lcd screen and I replaced the back housing. I put everything back together again, but when I went to turn it on the screen was black, but I felt the Ipod charge cause it heated up. I thought the new pieces were the problem so I went back and put the old pieces back in, but the screen still stayed black but it did charge. I replaced the pieces 2 years after owning the Ipod Classic. What could have possibly gone wrong? Help please.

Erica, since the only thing you get is a feeling of warmth, I would most certainly would disassemble the iPod again. Make sure that all cables are properly connected and that all the clips are down. Pay particular attention to the battery connector. It does have a bad tendency of breaking off the motherboard. Make sure it is still properly seated and that the cable is properly inserted. You also want to make sure that you have a known good USB cable, that your dock connector is clean, does not have any corrosion, or bend pins. Replace the battery and then re-evaluate as to what you got. Hope this helps, good luck.

Thank you I'll replace the battery now and see if that's the problem. Thanks for your answer.
