battry won't charge, how to charge it?

I replaced the battery and all went smoothly. After I assembled the Ipod it wouldn't start. When I plug it in it shows the apple logo and after 20 seconds it shuts. If I remove the dock cable it shuts no matter how many seconds have been passed.

I thing the reason is that the battery is absolutely empty, so what can I do to charge it? it was connected to the dock for a hour and still nothing.

adoo, It is possible that even your new battery is not holding a charge. You can very briefly attach a 9V battery to the iPod battery to possibly " wake it up. The outer contacts on the battery cable are the pos and neg contacts. If that does no work would replace it once more. This guide will show you how to do it, and the battery is available right here. you also want to make sure that your dock connector is in good working order, not corrosion or broken, bend pins. Use a multimeter to test the voltage on the battery connectors with the iPod plugged in. see what voltage you get. It should be greater than 2.9V, around 3.6V would be proper. Hope this helps, good luck.
