Why when I go the internet does my computer either freeze?

When I go on the internet my MacBook will either freeze or the screen jumps all over and I end up having to restart? Once this happens I have to restart my computer every time. It just started happening and now heppens ever time I go on the internet and cannot get anything accomplished. I feel like it may be a virus but have been told Macs do not get virus's.

Now it is freezing even when I am not on the internet. It freezes and the screen gets all jumbled and jumps as soon as I start my computer.

It would appear you have a failing VGU (VGC) - the high use of the internet brought on symptoms of the problem. Try running AHT (Apple Hardware Test) to eliminate it being a HD problem (If the screen artifacts and freezing is not present it's a HD-software problem not a video hardware problem).
