im repairing the front glass on my phone, not the lcd, just the front glass. do i need that adhesive tape that they sell with the kit or can i do it with the tools that they gave me?

Nick Laurie, it is my understanding that the "LCD and glass -- a carryover from the previous generation -- are fused together, making cracked glass repair more costly" from here. Makes me wonder how you separated the front glass from the LCD. If you already bought the kit, let us know how you got the glass off. Some people have tried, most have failed. I would definitely replace the front assembly combined, PITA to separate. If you have it separated, you will surely need something to hold the glass to the LCD, so you might as well use that tape:).
