Snow Lep Install DVD can't copy files to HD?

''I put the DVD in the superdrive.

Start up the iMac, it does run the installation.

After 10 minutes I got a nasty yellow triangle telling me It's not able to copy the installation file's.''

The things I did do to fix the problem:

(Snow Lep family pack dvd works, did on other iMac)

I used the superdrive from another iMac tru fire-wire.

(start F on source Mac and start Alt on target Mac)

The iMac finds the DVD and starts installing, after 30 minute's I got the same old yellow triangle...aggghhh.

I tried using an external DVD player, no go, iMac cant find it.

If I try to clone the source iMac with CCC the Alt startup doesn't work on the target iMac.

My best guess is the HD on the target iMac is not as good as it says it is in the disc utility app. I formatted it a few time's and did run disk control. All came out good.

Now I am stuck like a pole in the mud....(Dutch expression)

hope one of you can give me some tips and tricks to fix this....

A big thanks 2 all of you...

Ron

Please tell us about your installation disk, is it grey or a retail version?

ITs retail and worked on a other iMac.

Since you have another Mac try placing your questionable drive in an external case. Repartition (not erase) it. If you still get copy errors IMHO the drive is unreliable and should be replaced.
