I have to replace the hard drive on g5 PPC

I have G5 PPC and hard drive went bad...I installed the 1 TB drive and downloaded the OS X 10.5 from internet on to My windows PC. Os x is like .dmg file. Now i have no idea what to do Please help with step by step I am very new to Mac..

Sony, this is educational only, coming from a fellow PC user that is still and always learning about Mac's. A file with the DMG file extension is a Mac OS X Disk Image file. Kind of like an .img file for the PC user. read more about it on here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Disk_... and if you are more of a visual learner check on here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmgV749rK.... there is Windows software that allows you to burn the image. I use PowerISO and UltraISO to at least peek at it. I know that both of those burn DMG as well. Like mayer says, get the original and be done with it:-)

First use your original system installation disk. Run Disk Utilities and format the drive. You can then install a system. If you do not have this disk, call Apple and give them your serial number and order a replacement original installation disk for $16.
