It appears that the part is a Murata MM4829-2702. Datasheet for the part is available here A video of what is involved can be found on here. The part is available at places like this. and right here for more $$ :) Of course you do want to take exact measurements so you get the right part. As for the actual repair, Mitch Rush is most certainly right. It does take a lot of skill and the right tools to repair it. Hope this helps, good luck.

Hope this will helps chris and other out, regarding the soldering and which contacts go where :-)

Awesome Oldturkey03 you defiantly hit the bulls-eye. I really did think it would of been more costly. Yet another awesome surprise that it really isn't.

Hi, I'm glad I found this site as I can't find much on this subject anywhere.

I also have the same problem, my wifi connector holder has snapped of the logic board. I have no issues with attempting this fix myself apart from the not knowing which way round the holder sits.

I see the two longer sides/contacts line up with board, as do the two smaller contacts. Problem is that I read somewhere that the holder must sit the right way as only one contact conducts through the holder.

So my questions are;

is this true? if holder is fitted upside down/wrong way round will the wifi work?

If postition does matter, what way round should the holder sit??

& a random one, will 3G wifi connector holder fit 4S (loads on fleebay for peanuts)

Any advice, links or better, photos/technical drawings would be greatly appreciated.

YouTub just doesn't cut the mustard!!!

chris, the information that you are looking for is in this datasheet as well. It does show you which contact is what on the connector. To be 100% sure which connector to use, just measure your male end and match it up. The number listed in my original answer is what I got of the schematic, so that should fit yours too, but again, when in doubt, measure and verify. Since I can not post an image on comments, I added an image to my original answer. This is the way your connector gets soldered. It is the center contact that is vital while the outer ones all connect to ground. Welcome to ifixit ;-)

Thats a very skilled procedure, It also requires some special equipment, you should get a qualified shop to fix that for you.

Do you have any links or guide of how a person would fix this even with special equipment i cant afford to pay anyone?

by

No I don't, sorry, when I do it I use a USB mic and watch my Monitor while I solder it to the Board, it's real tough, and takes a tiny solder needle, also I have never been able to find the part, the few times I have done this I harvested the part from a bad Logic Board.
