Replaced headphone jack, no improvement.

I recently received my new ifixit headphone jack for my Ipod Touch 4th gen. Last Fall, sound stopped playing out the right headphone. A week later, the sound in the left headphone became very faint. I tried several different headphone pairs, same problem.

The reviews on this site listed my problem, so I placed a headphone jack replacement. Most of the process went smooth except i used the heat gun a little too long, which damaged my display some, and the tips of the ifixit opener tools broke off.

After struggling to reconnect the logic board cable, i was relieved to be done. Hooked up my headphones, same problem. Man I'm really bummed. If the jack isnt then problem, then what is?

sounds like a one of the channels from the sound chip has gone out (right or left channel)... You may also want to check the connector on the mb where the speaker jack hooks into.. look at it under extreme magnification, you may have a bent pin on this small connector.. However, my feeling is that this is a mb issue that may not be fixable by you, or even the vast majority of professionals that repair these. Yeah, I junk some of these too, I can't fix 'em all.. sometimes it isn't worth it either..

Yeah i had a feeling that would be the case. I appreciate the thorough response though. Do you know if there a picture on the site of the speaker pin that may be bent? Would I just need to bend it straight?
