sodering question sony laptop

I have a dc in that got yanked from the computer. The wires are easily accessible and I have the actual plug. However, there is a ground wire to a screw and then a black and red wire bundled together... I only have 2 points to solder to. Anyone know whether the bundled go to a point and the ground to the other, or black together and red to the other?

Update

This is repair job to an older Sony. The dc in "cradle" was so damaged that there was no was to reattach the dc in properly. Hence the dc in basically hung outside the computer in the corner which made it still usable. A kid somehow yanked on it and pulled the dc in from the wires. I found this pic so I assume this is the proper method of repair.

Dave, all you would have to do is Black to Black and red to Red. You should have no problem reattaching those if your still see the wire ends. If you do not see the ends, it would be best to post an image so we can see what you see. I checked and can not see a ground wire. I figure you must be either in a place or a situation that you can not get the replacement cable. It runs for about $12 on ebay. Hope this helps, good luck.

Hi

To be honest rather than trying to solder the wires back into the plug you may be best of just repalcing the jack as it is a plug in, there are a few videos on you tube that shoe how to do this
