Logic board lcd connector thin metal cover came off a little

Hey guys,

While replacing the HD on my late 2009 imac i7 2.8g I may have messed up the LCD connector to the logic board.

I have attached a picture (from the ifixit guide) of the part i'm referring to.

Here is what happened. The cover to the connector is in 2 pieces that cover the front of the connector. The right half of the cover came off. If it still connected, however it's lose.

I'm wondering if that is going to be a problem. I hope it wont be but I think you guys can better tell me if i just completely screwed up my iMac or not.

Thanks!

as long as it works and you are sure the connector will not come off while reassembled inside the machine i think it should be fine.

I'll know for sure if it works when i get home. I'll update in case this happens to anyone else.

Thanks for the response!

Well... It does seem to work. I'm doing a timemachine restore now.

One of the rubber pieces on the connector came off too... That cable and its connector are horrible!
