power button wont work

My Macbook Pro 13 was water damaged a couple of months ago. At first i would not start, but after cleaning it with alcohol i finally got it to work.

but not by pressing the power button. I have to take of the lower case, unplug the battery and the plug it in again while the power supply is attached to the mac. Then i can get the mac to power on.

does anyone have any solution how i can get the power button to work again?

Is it possible to replace the power button? or do i have to replace the entire upper case?

where is the cable for the power button located, maybe i can try with alcohol there?

what to do?

Chosen Solution

Carefully clean the top case, power button & ribbon cable (you have nothing to lose)- if that fails you can see if you can find just the power button/ribbon cable (advanced DIY) or replace the top case the sell them here for ~$300.00 US.
