Can the GPU( NVidia GeForce 7300GT) be repaired easyly?

Hi there! These 7300GT seem to bee as crappy as those 8600GM T on the MBPs from early 07-late 08, thats what I found out so far. Here in Krautland there are some pro's that fix MBP mainboards by reballing/replacing the chipset for~ 250 Euros+ Tax+shipping.

For an iMac Intel 24" EMC 2111, this is money thrown out of the window!

So whats the main trouble with this video card? Chip set? Lousy capacitors, like on iMac G5? Combination of both?

Someone knows a cheap way to make iMac run again fully equipped?

If u can live without DVDs, PPTs, Flash, go to:System/Library/Extensions--> find&delete 'GeForce. kext'.

This made my machine run again.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi Tom ! Thanks for that link! But its discouraging though, to see a black screen in the end, after all the effort.

Hi Alexander,

What does removing the .kext do exactly? Does your iMac then run with a generic driver? The only things that won't work are playing a DVD, a Powerpoint and Flash?

The operative term here is "easy."

No, there is not an easy way to fix this. However, if you are adventurous, consider Baking your GPU.
