Screen Shows Battery Icon when plugged in...Wont boot.

Ive acquired this iPod from a customer. It had a shattered screen and wouldnt boot. I replaced the screen and took it completely apart. It shows NO signs of damage or water damage. Everything looks good.

When you plug the charger in it shows the red battery icon with the lightning symbol. It never shows the apple logo and wont boot. If you unplug the charger the screen goes black and wont turn on.

I have held down the top and botton buttons and gotten it to turn off completely and come back on, just to show the battery symbol. Ive held down home, power, vol up and down to reset as well. Nothing.

iTunes and my extraction software don't recognize it being plugged into the computer, but the charge icon comes on when plugged in.

Im truely stumped. I saw the post about grounding the battery but this sounds different.

Please help!
