Dark screen, replaced inverter, is it the LCD?

My MacBook's display is dark. I can see its on with a flashlight and the computer is responsive and works fine. Hooked up to an external monitor it works as well. I've already replaced the inverter and cable without correcting the issue. When the issue stArted the backlight would work for sometimes 10 minutes before going dark and a reboot would fix it but no it only flickers a second on boot and nothing else. The video wasn't distorted or anything and the angle of the lid does not matter. I'm using that to assume its not the display cable. Do you agree or could it still be the display cable? The only other solution is a new LCD right? I don't want to keep throwing parts at it and want to narrow it down if possible.

Sounds like a truly bad backlight bulb - and for a DIY it's easier to just replace the entire display.
