Can the stand be removed from the new iMac 27" i7?

Is it possible to remove the stand from the brand new iMac 27" i7?

I'll buy one soon but have to carry it in a suitcase for going abroad. All, even the common oversized suitcases, are too small for putting the iMac with its original package into it.

Therefore I hope someone can help and come up with a solution.

Got some bad news here -

The newest iMacs stands are different than the older ones. Presently there is no bracket mounts VESA Mount Standard to swap them out with.
