Replaced headphone jack ribbon cable but phone does not turn on. Why?

I have just replaced 3GS headphone jack ribbon cable and got the following problem:

1) When I try to turn it on, it goes to apple screen and after 1 minute returns to dark screen. Then I hold the power button once again and it goes to recharge screen (battery + bold).

2) I connect the phone to the wall charger and it goes to apple screen. After a few seconds it turns on indicating battery is 100% full.

3) After unpluging the wall charger, the phone remains turned on for half an hour (battery indicator 100% full) and suddenly turns off.

4) Back to description #1.

May I have damaged something? Any tips? I have already restored the phone and it didn't work out.

Note: I guess that it is related to the fact that I left it dissambled for one month (parts not available in the market) and the battery completely drained out.

try disconnecting your new power/headphone jack and see what happens. It will still start from plugging in and you can set the sleep screen to a minute and power on from home button press. It'll show you whether the problem is the jack or the battery... could be either one, you get some wacky signs with faulty parts.

I have tried to disconect it but it did not solve the problem. Something has changed after the third charge. Now I am runing out of battery when the indicator is at 88-89%. Does it mean I need a new battery?

When I tried to turn it on it went to apple screen and then black (not battery/bolt image). After connecting the charger, the battery was marking 44%!

I have changed tons of power ribbon cables and have never seen any symptoms like this afterwards, I would start with a new battery, if that doesn't fix it I would think you could have damaged the cable during installation or it was faulty so I would change it again, good luck.

Hi Mitch, thanks for your message. All the ribbon cable buttons and headphone jack are working properly but I am gonna try to replace it for the old one which was good except for the silent button. If it doesn't fix I will try the battery and let you know the results.

I'd put a new battery in at the same time and save time. Yours is dying

I will do that.
