Volume buttons fn f11 won't work (asus zenbook ux31a)

So I have been researching everywhere and I did come upon the ifixit link with the step-by-step guide on how to "lock in the connector." However, even after doing that and taping it down with better tape, my volume button STILL does not work. Anybody else experience this? If so, what did you do to resolve the issue? The same works for when I try "fn" + f10/f11/f12 and I often get a delayed response for the "fn" + f5/f6.

Help please? Thanks.

I have a similar issue. When I hit F12 (the volume control) in an open browser, I get a window at the bottom that shows the page code. None of the volume control buttons work, and only some of the other function-buttons seems to have any affect. I'd love an answer to this. You don't pay $1500 for a computer that doesn't work. This is why people buy Macs. And why I'm starting to wish I did.

YES! that happens to me too and the F10 won't work either. Is there any way to fix this?

by

you have to press Fn key (left bottom of keyboard) and at the same time top keys whichever you want F5, F6 for brightness or F11 or F12 for audio volume down and up, respectivelhy

by

Thank you for that! That's easy :)

Is there a way to change it so you don't have to use the fn key to press those buttons?

You should check to confirm that the ATKACPI driver is installed along with any other hotkey utilities. The Asus support website has downloads for these items depending on your operating system. Here is the url: http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SL...

At the top of the Downloads tab there is a drop-down to select your OS. The download you need is located in Utilities and it called; ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities.

I hope this helps!

I've just started having this problem as well.

Function works with

f1, f5, f6, f7

Function DOES NOT work with

f2, f3, f4, f8, f9, f10, f11, f12

also my scrolling on the touch screen is intermittent, and my arrow keys don't always work. The laptop is 18 months old...
