New LCd screen grey white only but old screen works, why?

Hi,

I have a B serial number itouch 2G with a faulty/cracked LCD screen. It still displays but has lines on it. So I ordered a new 2G LCD screen and fitted it but the new screen just shows a grey white display!

Interestingly, the new screen when fitted to my C serial number itouch 2G works perfectly and when I refit the old cracked screen to my B serial number Itouch 2G it also displays but with the lines on it.

Is there some hardware differences between the LCD screens for B and C serial number itouch 2G? Or is this a firmware issue? Please help!Can't seem to find a solution!

well that LCD works in ALL 2nd Gens and 3rd Gens. So might be an obstruction in the LCD port where you plug it in causing a short or something. I would suggest blowing that area with a air bottle and inspect the ribbon on the end just to make sure its clean. And if same issue try to attempt a DFU mode restore and see how it goes.

Thanks for the reply. Its an unusual problem that I have. I don't think it is a short or cable contact issue as the old screen works and displays correctly except for lines where it has been damaged BUT the new screen just gives a white grey appearance like olden days TV static. Then when I refit the old screen, it does display as it should.

However, the new screen then works perfectly when fitted to my C serial number itouch which is why I am wondering if there is any diffrence between screens of B and C serial itouches.
