BeePing and black screen after replace HD

I replaced a new HD, plugged my iMac on and nothing. Black screen and beeping. I put the recovery disc in and can not take it out. How can I install a new software? Why my computer is beeping and what a problem with the screen?

Depending upon the number and duration of the beeps you damaged (shorted), loosened or disconnected a RAM chip. Check the RAM seat - they snap in firmly... if they are not loose try running ONE CHIP in one side, then the other (only one chip/slot may be bad).
