Backlight not working after screen replacement

A friend gave me their unibody MacBook to have the cracked screen replaced. I purchased a new screen and installed it using the step-by-step instructions on the iFixit site.

Immediately after installing the screen I tried powering the unit up only to notice the backlight is not working. I re-installed the old cracked screen and the backlight does not work on that one either (the backlight worked before the procedure).

What could be the problem?

I've seen this problem in the 2 lcd's I've replaced in the past couple of weeks. Really weird I never used to see it before. I think it has to do with suppliers selling a1278 lcds - they're compatible but the brightness is a little weird

Anyway, HERE'S what you do

Turn it off. Once off press and hold the power button till it beeps LED at the front will flash. RIGHT after it does that press and hold the option+command+P+R (PRAM reset)

OK that was just reset.

After you have the computer on and fully working (no backlight probably)

connect the magsafe - should turn orange meaning it's charging.

Close the lid and open it and you should have backlight. It will work from now on LOL
