Replaced HDD cable MBP A1151, hard drive still not detected. Why?

The HDD in my Macbook Pro 17 inch 2006 stopt working suddenly.

The HDD was no longer visible in the system.

The HDD is OK and works fine in a external Firewire 800 enclosure.

I replaced the cable of the internal HDD but the drive is still not visible.

I do see the S-ATA chipset so that is active.

How can I solve this?

Thx

Boot up from your original system installation disk, "C" key. Go to the second screen pull down menu to Utilities > Disk Utility and see if you can see the hard drive. This failing you can try another drive. This failing you can remove the optical drive and get a hard drive enclosure and put the drive in that.
