Stopping turning on/being recognized by itunes after screen replacemen

I replaced the screen on a 4th gen ipod touch. It was booting with full battery before, and now I get nothing. Another answer on here suggests grounding the battery briefly to get a response. Either I'm not doing it right or it's not working. The only "odd" thing about this specific install is that the wifi cable got pried up, but I can't see how that would prevent a boot.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

and for what it's worth I've experienced this with a 2nd and 3rd gen too. They power on, you put the screen on, and then they don't. I have not changed my process, so not sure why this is occasionally happening, but it's very frustrating.
