How to Change the CPU to a quad core xeon

I fried my cpu on my MacPro 2006. Has anyone found a good step by step manual to do this? Perhaps a youtube video? Also, I'm especially concerned about the cpu heat sink bond and if there are any pitfalls I need to be aware of!

You would need to replace the logic board. Read through this assessment before going ahead: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ma...

The macbook pro you have has soldered on CPU. You cannot change it without the appropriate equipment. Also, a Xeon chip will probably never work with your computer's chipset in the first place, and Xeons are a socketed CPU, not soldered. Im pretty sure your stuck with your CPU.

Could you expand this topic a little further? Which series have the CPU soldered and which don't? Were the first Quad-Core CPUs (MacPro2,1) already soldered?
