Can I upgrade a logic board to a better version?

I have a Macbbok Pro mid-2009 2,5 GHz, with the nvidia 9400, but due to water contact, I burned the logic board, and I need a replacement for it. Can I buy a more powerful version (like a core 2 duo 2.8 GHz and the nvidia 9600gt, or even from a newer model, like the mid-2010) and replace it? I've heard that it might have problems with the battery reloader (60W vs 85W) and with the fans (mine have only one).
