Unknown hissing noise coming from TV when it is on.

I have a Vizio VW47L FHDTV10A. There is unknown hissing noise emanating from the back of the TV. It is not related to the speakers, as it occurs when the TV is muted as well. Is it possible that a controller board or mother board has a burnt out transformer. Is there a way to diagnostically find the problem so that I can proceed to repairing/replacing the parts. Thanks.

Any other changes or just the hissing? Where in the back, left, right, or center?

Mine does the same, but after a while the screen goes black and the sound improves.

Landon, the most common part that can make a hissing noise is the backlight inverter. Part number is 6632L-0392A KUBNKM133A and it is available at places like this. Unplug the board and see if the hissing goes away. The LCD will of course not come on. It is entirely possible that one or more of the transformers on that board are either loosing connection or starting to fail The LCD will of course not come on. If that checks out okay, take a close look at all the caps on the power board, since they can whine when the power board voltage is low.
