Broken display repair & "Please Wait ... Very Low Battery"

I dropped my iPod video, and it completely smashed the display ... nothing visible at all. The amazing thing was that it continued to play from my exisitng playlist for hours. Everything except the display worked (skip, volume etc...)

So I ordered a new display and very carefully installed it per the ifixit directions. Plugged it back together and it now boots to the sad iPod icon. It doesn't even try to spin up the hard drive it just goes to the icon and then displays "Please Wait ... Very Low Battery".

I am thinking that the battery must have discharged completely while I was waiting for my new display. I have tried overnight charging but that didn't do anyhting. Perhaps the battery charger was also broken when I dropped it.

Anyway, what should I try next?

Ta,

Bret

you should reopen it, chances are that you didn't reconnect the battery properly, therefore it's trying to charge the battery, but it can't.
