"Accessory is not supported" Won't charge now?

Charging error appeared on my Iphone 3gs with the Accessory not supported, etc error. I've only used Apple IPhone and Ipad chargers.

Phone ran down and now won't turn on.

Looked at replacing the charging port and/or IC, but folks say that doesn't work.

What to do?

Danny, this error is most often caused by a faulty dock connector. The first thing you want to try is to clean it with a toothbrush and some isopropyl alcohol. Clean it well. use a few puffs of compressed air to blow out any pocket lint etc. If that does not resolve the issue, replace the dock connector. Of course, make sure that you also try a different cable. At this time, it's a bit early to think about replacing the IC, try the dock connector first. I am sure it might also be time to replace the battery.Hope this helps, good luck.
