Need tips on reassembling LCD and front assembly

After my first failure of replacing my digitizer and cracking my LCD in the process I'm going to give it one more shot. My problem seems to be with the metal clips on the plate behind the LCD. The 1st time I opened my iPod I think I bent some of the clips. Can anyone post some pics showing the alignment of the tabs? Do they need to have a gap on the inside (towards LCD) or more bent to the outside (towards the edge of the case)? I've already replaced the headphone jack, battery, and back cover successfully but just can't seem to get the iPod closed up properly. Or to make it even more easy does anyone have a link where I could get a replacement LCD plate (the part that screws into the case and has the front assembly clips)? Thanks!

This guide has a picture of the clips. If anything, I would bend the clips slightly toward the inside of the iPod because it seems the the front panel (step 7) has tabs around its perimeter that clip into the inner edge of the metal clips seen in step 1. As long as there is not too much interference, the metal clips bent slightly inward would probably grab the tabs on the front panel more tightly.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I may even "dry fit" the LCD back plate to the mid-frame (plastic frame holding digitizer) outside of the iPod housing to make sure it clips in properly before trying to close everything at once.
