Won't start after hard drive replacment

Hello,

I replaced the hard drive in my powerbook g4 17" machine and followed the instructions here (many thanks) to the letter. Upon completion the machine won't start at all. I'm testing it with out all the body screws back in place but I don't think that would keep it from powering up. Is there something else I could have failed to re-connect?

Thanks for any assistance.

There's quite a few things you could have done here:

- Did you use proper ESD protection when opening up your system?

- Did you force or pull on anything to hard?

- Did you check the connectors are they correctly inserted or any pins damaged?

Diagnostically:

- Have you put the old drive back in yet to see if the system is still working?

- Are you getting any reaction when you press the power button?

Thanks Dan, I did not practice any particular ESD protection. What damage could I have done? Everything seemed to go back fine. I put back in the old drive and could not get it to start. I did have some challenges w/ the trackpad ribbon clamp connector but am reasonably sure I put it back correctly. I'm also testing w/out putting all the screws back in but don't see how that would keep it from starting up. Thanks for any input.

With winter upon us soon static electricity becomes a greater concern. Practicing good ESD protection can make the difference between a working and non-working system, it can also limit the systems lifespan as well.

It's anyones guess here why it's not working if you didn't zap anything. Review what you did as something isn't right. You may need to get your system to an Apple authorized repair center and let them fix it now.

Thanks Dan, I appreciate the responses.
